Description:

House of Jaya is a Chicago-based fusion fashion brand rooted in the belief that people living between cultures deserve clothing that honors both. Founded by educator Julie Achettu and entrepreneur Shveta Sahu, our mission is to empower individuals with dual identities by crafting seasonless, small-batch designs that blend South Asian artistry with contemporary American style.

Julie Achettu created the first Asian American literature core course for Chicago Public Schools, and this brand was born out of her classroom. Discussions centered around dual identity, so she wanted to create a brand where her students can feel seen- just like in the curriculum.

Every piece is intentional — we upcycle leftover fabrics, repurpose sentimental sarees, and minimize waste through the “One Closet” concept, enabling customers to resonate with both their heritage and their modern selves without overconsumption.

Beyond design, House of Jaya is committed to social impact: a portion of our proceeds support the Milaan Foundation’s Girl Icon Program, helping adolescent girls in India access education, leadership, and economic opportunities.

As an online shop headquartered in Illinois, we reach customers nationwide while holding deep ties to the South Asian community here. Our values align with SAACCIL’s mission of economic growth, cultural connection, and supporting South Asian entrepreneurship.
